No entanto, esses estudos
utilizando imagens de sat{\'e}lite n{\~a}o explicaram as
superf{\'{\i}}cie desses corpos d'{\'a}gua. Baseado nisto o
objetivo geral deste trabalho {\'e} analisar a variabilidade
superf{\'{\i}}cie da {\'a}gua do reservat{\'o}rio
modula. A metodologia desenvolvida foi baseada na
utiliza{\c{c}}{\~a}o de imagens de sat{\'e}lite de
resolu{\c{c}}{\~a}o moderada, as quais permitiram a estimativa
poss{\'{\i}}vel estimar a amplitude t{\'e}rmica na
superf{\'{\i}}cie da {\'a}gua do reservat{\'o}rio, estudar as
anomalias e as varia{\c{c}}{\~o}es interanuais. O balan{\c{c}}o
Isto permitiu
correla{\c{c}}{\~a}o.
ABSTRACT: Aquatic systems
continually respond to climatic conditions that vary over broad
scales of space and time. The response of each water body to
external conditions (hydro-meteorological processes) is revealed
in the first place by the thermal structures present in water
body. Water body size is determined by the balance of water inputs
and outputs, and lake temperature is governed by the balance of
heat inputs and outputs; both coupled to the atmosphere. In
response to the inputs of mass, energy, and momentum
(precipitation, energy, and wind stress), the water bodies return
heat and moisture to the atmosphere through conduction and
evaporation. Global, regional, or local change in the hydrological
and thermal states of water bodies thus represents interactive
responses to climatic variation in the supply of water and energy.
Most lacustrine chemical, physical and biological processes are
affected directly by lake hydrological (e.g. lake depth) and
thermal changes (e.g. seasonal stratification), and are thus
indirectly affected by climate variation. Understanding
lake-climate system interactions is therefore of fundamental
importance in understanding the effects of climate change on
limnological processes. Many tools have been used to understand
this complex system and their behavior through the time, such as
numerical models and satellite imagery. Due to the advances of
remote sensing with launch of satellites with better spatial and
temporal resolutions, the study of water surface temperature
variability in continental water bodies became a more suitable
task. However, these studies using satellite imagery do not
explain the observed water surface temperature variations. Based
on this, the objective of this work is to analyze the
spatial-temporal water surface temperature variability of the
Itumbiara hydroelectric reservoir (Goi{\'a}s State, Brazil) and
determine their driven forces. The developed methodology was based
on the use of satellite imagery of moderate resolution that allow
the computation of the water surface temperature from 2003 to 2008
(six years) during the daytime and nighttime. With these
temperature data was possible to obtain the thermal amplitude, the
anomaly, and interannual variability. The heat balance on the
surface water was calculated using the temperature field. This
allow the building of time series of water surface temperature and
heat flux balance for daytime and nighttime. The influence of each
heat flux component with water temperature was evaluated by the
coefficient of correlation. The identification of the flux more
correlated with daytime and nighttime water temperature allow
searching for periods when the correlated flux and water
temperature presents a good agreement in time-frequency space. The
results show the potential of the use of moderate resolution
satellite data to study water surface temperature variability and
to explain the main causes of this variability. The use of
hydro-meteorological and bulk temperature collected by station and
autonomous buoy, respectively, contributed to better understand
the physical processes in the mixed depth of the reservoir. Also
the results allow elaborating conceptual models for the
thermodynamics of the Itumbiara reservoir.",
